Carl Icahn Buys Close to $6 mln in Yahoo! Shares

According to Associated Press Carl Icahn, American billionaire financier and investor, has managed to acquire $67 million in Yahoo! shares, bringing his total stake of the company to some $75.6 mln, or about 5.5 percent of the company, in a move that has taken many analysts by surprise.

When we last left Yahoo!, Jerry Yang (CEO) and the rest of the board had just spurned Microsoft's $44.6 billion takeover bid for the supposedly greener pastures of potential deals with AOL, News Corporation, and/or Google. The rejection of Microsoft's bid also put the current board on a collision course with Carl Icahn in what looked to be a battle for control of Yahoo!'s board of directors.

Google Admits Its iPhone Search App Violates App Store Rules

Google's latest iPhone application that allows users to perform Web searches via voice recognition has been said to explicitly break Apple's "App Store" rules since the Google team made use of an undocumented API which shouldn't normally be used by iPhone developers, Google spokesman said earlier today in a statement.
