HAHNVILLE â“ At a board of directors meeting last Tuesday, officials at Dow Chemical announced the closure of several of the companyâs manufacturing plants including two units at its Hahnville complex, but a plant spokesman said the shut down would only result in about 10 layoffs.
Dow Chemical Company on Wednesday announced plans to close two units at the local plant in the third quarter of 2011. The move will affect some 45 employees, but managers are meeting with them individually about transfers to other parts of the local plant, Stacey Chaisson of Dow Public Affairs said.
