The third installment of the Transporter series has many of the classic aspects we have come to expect: fantastic car chases, wonderfully choreographed fights and easy to hate bad guys. Unfortunately, “Transporter 3”’s great action scenes are wrapped in long stretches of tedium and beautiful location shots from France and eastern Europe.
Jason Statham once said he was never going to win an Oscar for a back catalogue that includes Crank, Death Race and The Bank Job.

1. "Australia," director Baz Luhrman's epic of early Australia manages to pack in a big cattle drive, a World War II attack on Darwin, an epic romance between an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) and a rugged drover (Hugh Jackman) and a subplot about a mixed-race boy. It's a bit unwieldy but still grand and bracing entertainment.
OPENING THIS WEEK
"Transporter 3" (Rated PG-13; 1 hour, 40 minutes): Jason Statham is still fun to watch as the grimly macho Frank Martin. As the stoic, muscled driver who delivers valuable items, no questions asked, all over Europe for a big fee, Frank keeps getting involved with employers who turn out to be bad guys.
