Three Government jobs in Vanderburgh County are cut and the county official in charge says it was done without his knowledge. Last year the public voted to consolidate the Township and County Assessors offices.
Roger Shelton was working midnights when he noticed a car had gone into the ditch. Taking a closer look, Shelton spied his neighbor's dog poking out of the window of the car and realized his neighbor had been in an accident.
A benefit dinner to help the late Joe Mistopoulous' family will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Waterworks Road, in Saline. Mistopoulous died Dec. 18 after a 15-month battle with brain cancer.

May 1 The 2008 Paris High School May Fete Court was introduced to the school. Court members were Emily Higginbotham, Shannon Kachmar, Chelsey McCarty, Mackenzie Smith, Hannah Church, Lulie Elezoski, Courtney White and Annie Wooten.
At the Jan. 1 Matawan Borough Council reorganization meeting, the borough ushered in the new year with two new council members, a new council president and the return of the former borough attorney.
Pamela Brightbill will be deleting a word from her title because the word deputy is no longer necessary in front of the title of mayor. After being sworn in by former U.S.
Howell residents filled town hall on New Year's Day to watch Robert F. Walsh be sworn in as Howell's mayor and Susan Schroeder Clark take the oath of office as a member of the Howell Township Council. Walsh and Clark began serving four-year terms.
The Howell Democrats will be screening candidates as they search for a person to run in a special election to be held in November. An unexpired term on the Township Council will be on the ballot at that time. The term will be for one year (2010). In November 2010 that council seat will be on the ballot for a regular four-year term.
