COEUR d'ALENE -- There's an itch that's scratching its way into some of the summer fun at local lakes and ponds. "Swimmer's itch" (cercarial dermatitis) is popping up again -- literally.

Every summer cases of swimmer’s itch pop-up in lakes across Northern Michigan, leaving vacationers and residents with an irritating rash.
Most of us know to skip the egg salad that's been left out in the sun. We heed recommendations to pack sunscreen and extra water for the trip to the beach. Ditto for the long shirts and socks when headed out for a hike.
Your family’s health could sink or swim, depending on where you choose to spend the summer.
