(AP:NEW YORK) Wall Street snapped back from last week's devastating losses after major governments announced further steps to support the global banking system, including plans by the U.S. Treasury to buy stocks of some banks.
(RTTNews) - Cotton surged back above the 50-cent mark on Monday, paring some of its sharp losses from last week. December cotton moved to 51.3 cents a pound, up 1.86 cents for the session. Prices climbed as high as 52.12 earlier in the day.

(RTTNews) - The European markets rallied on Monday, posting their biggest one-day percentage gain on record, after major governments announced further steps to support the global banking system.
Major stock markets around the world rose for the first time in days Monday as the U.S. said it plans to swiftly implement a broad financial rescue package and Europe put almost $2 trillion on the line to break the lending logjam threatening the world's economy.
Latin American stocks rose sharply Monday on news of coordinated European and U.S. attempts to prop up banks worldwide. Brazilian and Chilean stocks soared as their governments moved to boost financing for banks and exporters, and Mexico's battered peso recovered value.
