Midnight fire taxes firefighters

The call about a small fire last Saturday morning that generated concerns about firefighter safety in Maumelle came in at one minute past midnight on June 27. Three firemen and one volunteer arrived at the scene four minutes later. When they discovered the fire behind a fence near the Gables Apartments, they had to cut a hole in the wooden fence to access it.
