El Lago City Council Tuesday put off a vote on a smoking ban within the city limits to get clarification on exactly where lighting up will be banned.
By Rick Nauert, Ph.D. Just seeing someone smoke can trigger smokers to abandon their nascent efforts to kick the habit, according to new research conducted at Duke University Medical Center.
The name attached to the threat -- "third-hand smoke" -- was coined by doctors from MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston to describe the risk facing infants and children who are exposed to invisible yet toxic chemicals that cling to carpets, sofas and clothes long after the second-hand smoke has cleared.
