Fire at Wallenwein Hotel

A blaze broke out at the historic Wallenwein Hotel the evening of Mon., Dec. 1. Around 5:30 p.m., crews from the East Aurora Fire Dept. began responding to the blaze. Initial reports indicate that the fire began on the second level of the building.

At East Aurora, Erie County, to-day, the firm of Richardson, Beebe & Co., made, it is claimed, the largest cheese ever pressed. It weighs 3,300 pounds. The milk used weighed 16 tons. Two Sides Voiced on Ice Rink: Complaints Continue But Merchant Gives Support

The outdoor rink on Riley Street was again a hot issue at the Nov. 17 East Aurora Village Board meeting. Some neighbors and other residents voiced concerns that the Aurora Ice Association could be operating in violation of village code, while one local merchant cited the rink for having a positive effect on local businesses and outlined efforts for cross promotion between shops and rink programs.
