When Ereck Plancher collapsed during a University of Central Florida practice this past spring, the head athletic trainer was not present, according to a report by the Orlando Sentinel. Plancher, a Lely High standout, died shortly after collapsing. An autopsy revealed that the 19-year-old had a sickle-cell trait and complications due to physical stress caused his death.
