“Just because you’ve got something doesn’t mean you have to sit on the sidelines,” said Jean Brown. Brown, 65, was diagnosed with scleroderma five years ago after she noticed her hands and fingers getting white and cold in air-conditioned buildings.

Mrs. Mariano, 68, of Metuchen, died June 19, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a receptionist at CDI Headstart, North Brunswick, for more than five years. She was predeceased by her father Rocco A. Mariano; and two brothers, Richard and Robert.
