Gard, Eadington wed

Greta Gard, of Juneau, and Michael Eadington, of Crystal Bay, Lake Tahoe, were married May 23, 2009, on the Big Island of Hawaii, on the beach of a freshwater lagoon, at Kiholo Bay. The couple combined their names, becoming the Gard-Eadingtons. Their reception luau was held south of the ceremony in Kona, at a sacred old Hawaiian village, on the point of the King Kamehameha Hotel.

Lorain officials look to youth programs to decrease violence

LORAIN — When six homicides, several shootings and a wave of other violent crimes plagued South Lorain in 2005, some residents decided to take back the city by creating the Coalition for South Lorain. Only a year later, the coalition created the Lincoln Community Center in the vacant Lincoln Elementary School to get youths involved in the community and off the street.

What started as a celebration of the dance company's 10th anniversary became a tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time just days after his death.
