Helmet fails to protect motorcyclist

Authorities said a motorcyclist who was killed on the afternoon of Nov. 23 as he was traveling on the U.S. Highway 59 southbound service road near Townsen Blvd. was wearing a helmet. The protective gear, however, apparently slipped off the victim’s head somehow and was later found approximately 100 feet from the body.
