Dr. Peter Sakas has seen some odd things in nearly 30 years of veterinary medicine at Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center. Like the time a dog was brought in after it swallowed 20 rocks. Or the time he treated a 108-year-old parrot that had outlived several owners. "I once came in at 2 a.m. to deliver an egg from a finch," he said. "The bird was having trouble and the egg was stuck."
