Buffalo-based craftsman Charles Rohlfs claimed that his inspiration came from the natural grain of oak and his own creative imagination. The wildly styled works feature boldly carved "whiplash" lines and unique structural elements.
It all began with an ad in the paper for a mission-style home in Bloomfield Hills. Curious as to why the price seemed too good to be true, Charles Stenius and Janet Mathews called the listing agent to ask what was wrong with the property. Her response: "I have to be honest. Everything."
