The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has finally signed yesterday the P7.2-billion automation contract with the joint venture of Smartmatic International Corp. and Total Information Management Corp. (TIM), signaling the start of the full-blast preparation for computerized 2010 polls.
It’s all systems go for the country’s first fully automated elections in 2010.

The Supreme Court (SC) did not issue Friday a restraining order that could have stopped the Commission on Elections (Comelec) from signing the P7.2-billion poll automation contract with Total Information Management/Smartmatic Corporation, a Filipino-Dutch joint venture recently formed for the project.
The Commission on Election (Comelec) finally inked on Friday the P7.2 billion automation contract with the winning bidder, signaling the start of the automation project for the upcoming 2010 elections.
MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) will try to rule on a petition filed by lawyers to stop the signing of the contract to automate the 2010 polls before the scheduled signing of the contract Friday afternoon.
