Community raising funds for former Gering man recovering from transplant surgery

A former Gering man will come home to recover after receiving a pancreas transplant on Monday. Dave Nowatzke, 34, of North Platte, has suffered from diabetes most of his life, his mother Vi Reitz, of Gering, said this week. As a boy, he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes.
