Jewish musical styles to be part of July Shabbat services in Verona

Marsha Schreier, cantor of Congregation Beth Ahm, 56 Grove Ave., Verona, will give four sermons structured as musical presentations based on various aspects of Jewish music, as part of the Saturday Shabbat services, beginning July 4 and continuing during the month of July. Services begin at 9:45 a.m. and the public is invited.

German pol fined for playing Klezmer music

BERLIN (JTA) -- A Dresden politician has been fined for playing loud Klezmer music outside city hall to disturb a neo-Nazi march. Green Party politician Stephan Kühn was ordered on July 1 to pay the $210 fine, which will benefit an organization that helps victims of right-wing violence.
