Commissioners could end township controversy today

ELYRIA — The Lorain County Commissioners will vote today whether to approve the Lorain County Township Association’s trustee recommendation for the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency governing board — a controversial issue since the commissioners overturned LCTA’s pick on Dec. 30.

A Super Party: Freeland SportsZone hosts event

Rick Hayes of the Freeland Lions Club and designated “cook in charge” said there were about 500 pounds of food devoured by the crowd gathered at the second annual Freeland SportsZone Super Bowl party on Sunday. Hayes, along with other Lions Club members and many volunteers, cooked about 140 pounds of chicken wings, 50 pounds of sloppy joes and many, many pounds of ground beef for the nachos bar.
