DJ-BTMU Barometer Posts Largest Gain Since January

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- The Dow Jones-Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi-UFJ weekly business barometer jumped 0.8% in the week of June 27, its largest increase since early January. The index edged up 0.1% in the previous week, according to data reported Thursday.

According to the June edition of the United Nation’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) World Tourism Barometer, there was an 18 percent drop in tourist arrivals in the Middle East over the past four months compared to the same time period last year (though complete data for the Middle East was not fully available).

Gulf steel imports to drop 20% this year

08 July 2009 Steel imports to the UAE have dropped by almost 75 per cent compared to last year, according to an industry source. "About 800,000 tonnes of steel were imported [every month] into the UAE during the peak months of July and August last year," said Shyam Bhatia of Alam Steel.
