Upshaw didn't just head the NFL players' union, a demanding role he successfully and forcefully carried out since 1983. He, of course, was a Raiders star. He played in the second-most games in franchise history -- 217 regular-season games, 241 including postseason -- through 15 seasons, from 1967-81.
