Jobless claims take dramatic one-week jump

COEUR d'ALENE -- The number of unemployment insurance benefit checks issued this week jumped more than 20 percent from the previous week. A total of 18,907 benefit checks were issued during the week ending Friday, up 3,212 from the previous week, and double the same week in 2007.
