KUALA LUMPUR : World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei will lead six other Malaysian shuttlers who qualified for the US$500,000 (RM1.7 million) Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Super Series Masters Finals which will be held at the Likas Indoor Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from Dec 18-21.
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Grand Prix Finals are supposed to be the highlight of the domestic badminton calendar but this year’s championships have certainly lost their lustre with top shuttlers giving them a miss.
LEE Chong Wei's bid for a record seventh straight national title remains on track after the shuttler decided he will compete in the National Grand Prix Finals in Alor Star on Dec 9-11.

LEE Chong Wei and women's doubles Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui topped the standings, while Wong Mew Choo failed to make the cut for the US$500,000 (RM1.8 million) Super Series Masters Finals to be held in Kota Kinabalu on Dec 18-21 after the qualifying rounds ended with the completion of the Hong Kong Open on Sunday.
MALAYSIA has sufficient quality when it comes to men's doubles but as the recent Hong Kong Open once again showed, inconsistency is a major concern that should be addressed fast.
ZAKRY Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari took full advantage of an ineffective Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong to reach the final, their third this year, in the Hong Kong Open yesterday.
WONG Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui may have lost in the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open yesterday but there is no denying they are the most improved combination in the national doubles squad this year.
