July 10 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks dropped, sending the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index toward a fourth straight weekly retreat, as a deeper-than-estimated drop in consumer confidence added to concern the economic recovery will be delayed.
TORONTO Stock markets appeared set for a weak open Friday amid lower expectations for the second-quarter earnings season and slumping oil prices.
Retail gasoline prices in the Knoxville area on Friday continued to retreat from 2009 highs set last month, while oil prices slid well below $60 a barrel as investors braced for company earnings reports next week that will provide clues on the strength of crude demand.
