Most early-drilled wheat crops look promising – tillering has been good and residual herbicides have been effective.
A slightly drier, but much colder week has allowed a little spraying to be carried out on lighter soils and even some drilling on thin brash.
Wheat sown towards the end of October is only just beginning to emerge and is being hampered by the cold weather.
