TWIN FALLS, Idaho - First, high prices for competing crops cut acreage. Then, spring planting weather that featured high winds and cold temperatures reduced acreage yet again. Idaho’s sugar beet growers faced challenges in 2008, officials said.
“It was a really wild ride,” said Keith Esplin, Blackfoot, executive director of Potato Growers of Idaho. “Production costs fluctuated wildly with the cost of fertilizer and fuel going up so much. The high price of grain persuaded a lot of growers to plant that instead of potatoes.”
TWIN FALLS, Idaho - “I think 2008 was an interesting year,” said ICA President-Elect and commercial cow/calf operator Carl Ellsworth of Ellsworth Angus Ranch, Leadore, Idaho. “It started out fairly stable but then was pressured by high feed costs.”
CONFUSION surrounds Prudhoe Town Football Club, as Tynedale folk are unclear as to whether or not it still exists. Last month, the club announced it was folding as officials had “had enough” and wanted to concentrate on building the juniors.
We’ve long known that housing can provide a springboard for extraordinary achievement. But what about the extraordinary people who work in housing? How often do we recognise the achievements of the individuals who make housing a sector that can change lives?
