BERLIN (AFP) - Everyone knows the cost of living has gone through the roof.
Everyone knows the cost of living has gone through the roof. But the cost of dying? Inflation in the funeral business in Germany has led a record number of people to leave their bodies to science, to the point where researchers are now turning away cadavers or even charging donors.
Long-time friends Brian "Hunter" Koopman and Paul Fields are sharing more than decades of memories these days. Koopman donated one of his kidneys to Fields. "I feel tremendous," Fields said last month. "My numbers are good. Now I can't wait to get up in the morning. I plan to go back to work." The two friends are now, literally, down to their last kidneys together.
