July 10 (Bloomberg) -- Gold, little changed in London today, may decline as a stronger dollar and lower oil prices curb the metal’s appeal as an alternative investment and hedge against inflation. Silver dropped.
The US trade gap narrowed unexpectedly to $26 billion in May to the lowest reading since November 1999 as exports rose despite weak global demand and imports shrank.

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- U.S. import prices jumped last month, matching their largest increase in nearly two decades, as soaring oil prices and a weaker U.S. dollar further lowered the odds of a protracted period of economy-wide price declines known as deflation.
Stock futures are pointing to a lower open, unaffected by a government report that the U.S. trade deficit narrowed in May to nine-year low.
July 10 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil fell, heading for its biggest weekly decline since January, on concern a prolonged global recession will sap energy demand and as a stronger dollar cut demand for commodities a currency hedge.
Crude oil has retreated below 60 US dollars a barrel as doubts over fragile global demand put downward pressure on prices.
