In answer to Claire Wallace (Letters, February 4), the Koran states women must cover everything but the feet, face and forearms (some scholars believe the forearms should be covered too, but the hands shown). It does not say women must cover their face, and it certainly does not tell them to wear only black. I have no idea where that tradition came from, but it has no religious foundation.
